Part One | Part Two |

Rules

- I will be playing as Arsenal, with benefactor on.
- The English, Spanish and Italian leagues are running, with simulated world
on.
- I am only allowed to sign players aged 30 or over.
- In the absence of an editor - the current Arsenal squad will be demoted to the reserves or sold off.
- There are no limits or permutations to the type of staff or tactics I choose to use.

Objectives

- To build a team capable of achieving the board expectations of domestic and European successs
- To carefully manage and rotate the experienced players at my disposal, in order to preserve their fitness and gain the best possible results

Factors

- Rebuilding the low squad morale that will inevitably occur as a result of the demotion and sale of Arsenals established first team players.
- Compensating for the depleting levels of fitness that will arise as these ageing players compete on a weekly basis.

Background:

There was a general sense of disbelief in the world of football today, as the seemingly irreplaceable Arsene Wenger was sacked from his position as Arsenal manager. Chairman, Peter Hill-Wood cited the reason that the club hadn’t won a trophy for two years and that this was not the form befitting a club of Arsenal’s status.

Hill-Wood was quick to lay the blame firmly at the feet of Wenger, who’s policy of buying talented youngsters had yet to yield results. He stated that the club would be bringing in a new managerial structure, headed by the unheard of Jonathan Wolstenholme and that the transfer policy would take on a new direction, with an emphasis on bringing in proven players, who could restore the Gunners to their former glories.

Stepping into the shoes of an Arsenal legend was never going to be the easiest job in the world. As the young pretender to the fan favourites throne, I knew I had to hit the ground running, and the only way to do this was with signings - a new manager, a new direction - a new Arsenal.

With a directive to achieve domestic and European success weighing heavily on my mind, I set about my task with due diligence, dispatching my close knit group of scouts to the four corners of the globe, in search of proven players who could restore the dented pride of the Emirates faithful.

In a Summer of comings and goings, a squad of just seventeen player has been assembled, at a cost of 87.4 million. Whilst extra funds have been generated by the sales of Rosicky (19m), Gallas (10m), Diaby (6m), Fabregas (19m), Vela (4.9m) and Bendtner (7.2m).

Although it is fair to say that the team is somewhat under prepared for the new season, having played no friendlies and had little time to train together, I am hoping that these old heads will have enough experience to ensure a strong start to the season.

The fans initial scepticism of my appointment has been placated to a degree by the signing of their former hero, Patrick Vieira, who will be the captain for the forth coming season.

Now in the final week of pre-season, the players will spend the short time they have together training, in expectation of what is sure to be a baptism of fire, as we travel to bitter rivals Tottenham for the start of the new campaign.

CM FOCUS

CM 2010 section
We will soon be starting work on our new CM 2010 section, which should be up within the next week.

I hope to build up some comprehensive lists of all the best players, tactics, set pieces routines and training schedules.

I am also hoping to start a new Lower League Section, with help and guides for those who chose to start their managerial careers further down the footballing ladder.

If anyone is interested in helping with the Lower League section or any other area of the site, then please send me an e-mail at jonathan@champ-man.com
