Championship > Wolverhampton Wanderers
First Team: Matt Murray, Gary Breen, Michael Kightly,
Freddy Eastwood
Reserve/Youth Team: Jamie Clapham
The Wolves board expect the team to make the play offs this season. Despite not
having the best squad out of some of the bigger teams in the Championship, they
do have a very respectable 2.8m with which to achieve their goals.
Matt Murray is a very good goal keeper who will be an integral part of any
success that Wolves have, he is ably deputised for by Hennessey. Defensively
Wolves look quite strong, the likes of Breen, Gray and Edwards are all good
quality players. The one problem area would be at right back, where the likes of
Foley and Little are not of the required standard.
Wolves look distinctly lightweight in the midfield area. Whilst the likes of
Kightly, Davies and Henry are good, young English players. The rest of the
midfield department leaves a lot to be desired. Ideally Wolves could do with a
naturally left sided midfielder and a new central midfielder to bolster their
ranks. Players such as Olofinjana and Gleeson should be considered for transfer
listing in order to aid the rebuilding process.
Up front, Eastwood is a good quality striker, but he needs someone with a bit of
pace to play off him if Wolves are to be able to unlock opposition defences.
Whilst Keogh is a decent cover player, the likes of Elliott and Bothroyd are
poor players who should be considered for transfer listing. Wolves could do with
one or two attacking reinforcements if they are to achieve a good league
position.
Although a bit of a squad overhaul is required, prospective Wolves managers will
be happy that there is a substantial transfer kitty to bring in new players. If
reinforcements are brought in the required areas of the pitch, then there is
know reason why Wolves cannot claim a play off position, or better.
