Wolstenholme Chases Uruguayan Youngster
Celtic manager Jonathan Wolstenholme has entered the race to sign the
highly rated Liverpool striker, Figueroa. The Uruguayan club have been
deluged by offers from six clubs, including Besiktas, West Brom and
Torino. A fee of around 1.5 million should be enough to tempt them to
sell and the player himself is said to be keen on a move to Europe.

Smith Has Faith in His Players,
Rangers manager, Walter Smith, has defended his decision not to
bring in any new faces this Summer. He says that the squad which
came so close to beating Celtic to the title last year will be even
better prepared and more determined this season.

Romanov Predicts Hearts Glory,
Hearts' flamboyant chairman, Vladimir Romanov has predicted that the
season will end in glory for his team. He says that Angel
Chervenkov's men will be the surprise contenders for the SPL title

season to get underway. Gretna face a glamorous opening day fixture
at home to Rangers, but their excitement is placated somewhat by
their dire financial situation which means they could go out of

Sarioglu Joins Birmingham
Premier League new boys
Birmingham have broken the bank to sign Turkish international Sabri
Sarioglu, from Galatasaray.
The versatile defender had been linked with Rangers before
settling on a move to the Midlands.
