Spartak Moscow 0 - 4 Celtic, Luzhniki Stadium
Celtic enhanced their reputation on the European stage tonight, with an excellent 4-0 victory in Russia. Spartak had no answer to the pace of McGeady and Brown on the wings, with goals from Balde and Zurawski helping The Hoops to a famous win.

Without taking anything away from Celtic, Stanislav Cherchesov's men were the masters of their own downfall, with both Pletikosa and Dzuba putting through their own goal.

Hughes Delighted With Start as Falkirk go Second, Falkirk manager John Hughes saluted his sides gutsy performance, as they came from behind to win 3-1 against Hibs at Easter Road today. The result sees The Bairns climb to the lofty heights of second in the SPL table.

Deflated Rangers Boss Apologises to Supporters, Rangers manager Walter Smith has been forced to issue a grovelling apology to the fans following back to back drubbings against Old Firm rivals Celtic.

Valiant Scotland Lose Against French, Scotland's hopes of qualifying for Euro 2008 were dealt a major blow this evening, as they suffered a 2-0 defeat away against France. Two goals from Barcelona forward Thierry Henry were enough to secure victory for the French, who now top Group 2, from Italy.

Chervenkov is SPL Manager of the Month, Hearts manager Angel Chervenkov has been named the SPL Manager of the Month for August. His side have made an impressive start to the season, claiming 11 points from their opening 5 games, including impressive victories of Rangers and Celtic.
 
United Claim Community Shield

The traditional curtain raiser to the new season saw Manchester United overcome Chelsea 1-0, to claim the Community Shield.

A seventieth minutes strike from Wayne Rooney was enough to secure victory for United, in an otherwise dour encounter.


 
Chelsea Demolish Zagreb

Avram Grant's Chelsea have made an impressive start to their Champions League campaign, with a crushing 7-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb.

Andriy Shevchenko and Didier Drogba both claimed hat tricks, as the Blues swept the Croatian outfit aside.
