Valiant Celtic Fall Short
Jonathan Wolstenholme praised his sides performance after they came agonisingly close to snatching a draw at home to Milan. For all their passion and commitment, the Hoops were undone by a talismanic performance from Brazilian maestro Kaka and despite a late Zurwaski strike, the Italians ran out 2-1 winners.

Defeat at Home to Reds Leaves Rangers on the Brink, Rangers are on the brink of elimination from this years Champions League, following a 2-0 home defeat against Liverpool. Walter Smith's side are now bottom of Group D, with only 1 point from their opening 3 fixtures.

Hearts Claim Victory in Edinburgh Derby, They left it late, but Angel Chervenkov's men claimed a deserved 2-0 victory over bitter rivals Hibernian in the first Edinburgh derby of the season. Hibs can have know complaints having been on the back-foot for most of the match.

Gutsy Scotland Grab Draw, But Need Miracle, Alex McLeish's Scotland side came agonisingly close to beating the Italians tonight. However, a second half penalty miss from Barry Ferguson saw the game end 0-0 and Scotland now need Italy to lose to France in their final group game to stand any chance of qualifying for Euro 2008.

Killie Stun Hearts, Kilmarnock rocked Tynecastle this afternoon, a second half goal from Gary Wales was enough to claim all three points for Killie and saw Hearts lose further ground on the leading pack.
 
Blues Gain Revenge on Man Utd

Chelsea gained their revenge on Manchester United for their Community Shield defeat, with a 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge.

A Claudio Pizarro strike shortly after half time was enough to seal the win and move the Blues up to fifth in the table.


Winless Wigan Destroyed by Benitez's Men

Wigan's torrid start to the new season continued, as they were beaten 5-1 by Liverpool at the JJB Stadium.

The Latics are now bottom of the Premier League table, with only 2 points from their opening 10 games.
