CM 2008 > Guides > Club League Guides > La Liga > Mallorca

First Team: German Dario Lux, Varela, Juan Arango, Jonas Gutierrez

Reserve/Youth Team:

The straight forward message from the Mallorca board is that relegation should be avoided at all costs. With a good squad and a reasonable 2.9 million with which to bring in reinforcements, they should be well capable of achieving this aim.

Mallorca have four good young ’keepers in their squad, obviously it will not be necessary to keep them all on the books; German Dario Lux is the strongest, whilst Juanjo would probably be the weakest. In defence, they have a strong centre half in Ballesteros, whilst either Nunes or the on loan David Navarro should be able to form a decent partnership with him. They have good quality at right back, with the excellent Varela being well backed up by Ramis and Hector. However, the left side could be problematic, with only average players such as Dorado and Fernando Navarro comfortable in this position, it may be necessary to look at bringing in reinforcements.

They have a good mix of attack and defence minded players in the midfield, with Basinas and Ibagaza being a strong duo. However, back up is sparse in this area, as the two current understudies, Valero and Victor are still a little inexperienced at this level. Mallorca are very strong on flanks, the likes of Arango and Gutierrez are both good quality players who can play on either side of the pitch.

The attacking department boasts a lot of potential, yet a few of these players are still raw talents who may not yet be ready for the rigours of football in La Liga. The likes of Nsue and Trejo would benefit from being carefully nurtured rather than thrown in at the deep end straight away. This will leave just Webo and Guiza, who despite being a reasonable pairing who should be able to score enough goals to stave off the threat of relegation, are unlikely to help the team progress much further up the division.

Overall, Mallorca should have more than enough quality in their team to stay away from the relegation battle. If their transfer budget is used wisely and a good calibre of player brought in, then they should be aiming for a mid table finish, maybe even with an outside shot of European qualification.

CM FOCUS

CM 2010 section
We will soon be starting work on our new CM 2010 section, which should be up within the next week.

I hope to build up some comprehensive lists of all the best players, tactics, set pieces routines and training schedules.

I am also hoping to start a new Lower League Section, with help and guides for those who chose to start their managerial careers further down the footballing ladder.

If anyone is interested in helping with the Lower League section or any other area of the site, then please send me an e-mail at jonathan@champ-man.com
