CM 2008 > Guides > League Guides > Eredivisie

The Dutch Eredivisie has seen some of the world greatest players grace its stadiums. However, in recent times it has ceased to be the footballing super power of years gone by, with the leagues best players being quickly snapped up by other members of Europe's elite. This is not helped by the baffling structure of the league; with three end of season play offs determining European qualification and relegation.

League Structure:

- Champions qualify for Champions League

- Dutch Cup winners qualify for UEFA Cup
- Sides finishing 2nd - 5th contest play offs with the semi final winners meeting in the final

- The winners of the final qualify for the Champions League, whilst the runners up qualify for the UEFA Cup
- The two sides who lost in the semi finals play each other with the winner qualifying for the UEFA Cup
- The losers play the winners of the play offs from the sides finishing 6th - 9th for the final UEFA Cup place
- Sides finishing 6th - 9th contest play offs - the winners of the semi final play in the final

- The winners of this final meet the losers of the match between the two losing semi finalists from the 2nd - 5th placed play off
- The winners of this match qualify for the UEFA Cup, whilst the losers qualify for the Intertoto Cup
- Sides finishing 16th and 17th enter into two groups of four with three other teams from the sides finishing 2nd - 7th in the Dutch First Division

- The two group winners are promoted/stay in the Eredivisie - whilst the six remaining teams are relegated/stay in the Dutch First Division
- Bottom side relegated

CM FOCUS

CM 2010 section
We will soon be starting work on our new CM 2010 section, which should be up within the next week.

I hope to build up some comprehensive lists of all the best players, tactics, set pieces routines and training schedules.

I am also hoping to start a new Lower League Section, with help and guides for those who chose to start their managerial careers further down the footballing ladder.

If anyone is interested in helping with the Lower League section or any other area of the site, then please send me an e-mail at jonathan@champ-man.com
