Attacking midfielders have a predominantly attacking role in the team, however they do still have some defensive duties. They differ from forwards in that they are still considered part of the midfield and don't simply play off the front man/men.

Attacking midfielders tend to make the best playmakers as they are in a position where they are behind the attackers so that they can play through balls and get crosses in, as well as having shots at goal themselves.

Important attributes for attacking midfielders are flair, creativity, vision, passing, crossing, long shots, positioning, team work and stamina. There is a great variety of attacking midfielders to choose from in CM 2010; one to suit each budget in every league.
