 CM 2008 > Guides > Club League Guides > Serie A > Atalanta

First Team: Maximiliano Pellegrino, Costinha, Ferreira Pinto, Mario Defendi

Reserve/Youth Team:

The Atalanta board expect the team to finish in mid table. Whilst this should be achievable, the squad is lacking quality in some key areas.

The goalkeeping area is a cause for concern, it would probably be best to recall Consigli from his loan at Rimini. Back up is in short supply, and players like Ivan should be sold in order to raise cash for a replacement. Atalanta have a reasonable defensive line, but could really do with a quality right back, as both Rivalta and Belleri are average players. Pellegrino and Bellini should prove to be solid defenders and there is also the talented Capelli as back up.

The midfield department is Atalanta’s strongest area. They have a well balanced midfield quartet in the shape of Costinha, Doni, Pinto and Tissone. However, they lack strength in depth in this area, which could become a concern were one of these players to get injured. The likes of Bernardini, Langella, De Ascentis and Padoin do not posses the quality to play at this level and should be considered for transfers.

In the attacking department, Atalanta have a few decent strikers in the likes of Muslimovic and the experienced Inzaghi. They also have an exceptionally talented youngster in DefendI, who should be held onto at all costs. Whether or not these players can score the goals to mount a push further up the division is debateable.

With only 1.9 million to spend on transfers, potential Atalanta managers will have to pick their signings carefully. Despite having talented players, there is also a lot of dead wood in the team. It may require a squad overhaul if they are to make a significant impact on the division.

CM FOCUS

CM 2010 section
We will soon be starting work on our new CM 2010 section, which should be up within the next week.

I hope to build up some comprehensive lists of all the best players, tactics, set pieces routines and training schedules.

I am also hoping to start a new Lower League Section, with help and guides for those who chose to start their managerial careers further down the footballing ladder.

If anyone is interested in helping with the Lower League section or any other area of the site, then please send me an e-mail at jonathan@champ-man.com
