 CM 2008 > Guides > Club League Guides > Serie A > Genoa

First Team: Andrea Masiello, Manuel Coppola, Papa Waigo, Marco Di Vaio

Reserve/Youth Team:

The goal for Genoa is to avoid relegation at all costs, due to debts, they cannot afford to drop down a division. This aim should be achievable as they have some good quality players in their squad.

There is not much to choose between the two goalkeepers, Rubinho and Scarpi, both of whom are solid players. They have two good young defenders in Masiello and Sinorini, who have bags of potential. The full back area is a problem though, as Konko and Fabiano are both average players who may struggle in this division. Funds for replacements can generated with the sale of poor players such as Bega and Santos.

Genoa’s midfield is the strongest aspect of their team. Cappola is a good holding midfield player who will allow the likes of Danilo, Leon and Waigo freedom to express themselves in the attacking third. Garibaldi is also an exciting prospect who will provide good cover in this area.

Di Vaio and Lucho have the makings of a good attacking partnership, both are good quality players who should be able to score enough goals to keep Genoa safe in the division. It may be an idea to look to the loan market for reinforcements, as the current back up players - Borrielo and Sculli - are distinctly average.

With only 475k to spend on improving the squad, the main priority will have to be avoiding relegation. However, Genoa have a reasonable squad to begin with, one strong enough to stave off this threat. If quality players are brought into the team, there may be the possibility of a push further up the division.

CM FOCUS

CM 2010 section
We will soon be starting work on our new CM 2010 section, which should be up within the next week.

I hope to build up some comprehensive lists of all the best players, tactics, set pieces routines and training schedules.

I am also hoping to start a new Lower League Section, with help and guides for those who chose to start their managerial careers further down the footballing ladder.

If anyone is interested in helping with the Lower League section or any other area of the site, then please send me an e-mail at jonathan@champ-man.com
