Inter Milan
First Team: Francesco Toldo, Walter Samuel, Javier Zanetti,
Patrick Vieira, Adriano, Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Reserve/Youth Team: Goran Slavkovski, Mario Balotelli
As reigning champions, the Inter Milan board are hoping to make it a hat trick
of Serie A titles. Whilst this should be a possibility, as they have quality
throughout their team, it is an ageing squad.
In goal, veteran keeper Toldo is still world class, he is ably deputised for by
Cesar. The defensive area is also very strong, with Burdisso and Samuel being an
awesome central pairing. Javier Zanetti is also a quality right back, who at
thirty three, probably has a couple of years left in his legs. The left back
area might be one to look at improving. Despite having lots of capable
performers, such as Chivu, Coco, Cesar and Maxwell, they are not of the quality
of the rest of the defence.
Inter have a strong midfield department, with the likes of Stankovic, Vieira,
Dacourt and Solari being quality players. However, they could do with a more
attacking minded central midfielder to offset Vieira and Dacourt. Unfortunately,
Luis Figo is an ageing player and probably not up to the rigours of playing week
in, week out.
Up front, Inter have a deadly striker partnership in Adriano and Ibrahimovic;
combining a great mix of pace, heading ability and finishing that will frighten
the life out of opposition defences. With Suazo and the on loan Crespo being
good back up players, it may be an idea to sell the ageing Cruz whilst you can
still get some decent money for him.
Inter will require a new player or two in the defence and midfield areas. With a
healthy 12.5 million transfer budget, it shouldn’t be to hard to bring in some
top quality players. They should be well capable of retaining their Serie A
title and will have a good chance in the Champions League.
